In order for all the children at Nightingale Infant & Nursery school to achieve, it is vital they attend school every day. We celebrate the school’s overall attendance every week in our newsletter and award the class with the best attendance a certificate in the achievement assembly.
If your child is unable to attend school due to illness please call the absence line (01603 867976) as soon as possible on the first day of absence. If we have not had any contact for a child who is absent a member of staff will text asking parents and carers to call the absence line as soon as possible providing a reason for their child’s absence.
When a child cannot come to school for registration due to a medical appointment please provide us with a confirmation of the appointment so that we can authorise the absence. We would ask that wherever possible, all appointments should be made outside of school hours.
The cluster attendance policy, which is issued to all families in the autumn term of each year, clearly states that schools can no longer authorise for holidays during term time. The headteacher can authorise such absences in exceptional circumstances under guidance issued by Norfolk County Council but families may be fined if they take a child out of school during term time. If you wish to take your child out of school during term time for any holidays/prolonged periods of absence please complete a holiday/absence request form. These forms are available from the school office.
If a family has any difficulties achieving good attendance for their child we would like to work with them to find a solution. In cases of persistent absence families will be contacted by the Attendance Officer and/or the school’s pastoral team.
